The Beggar Home has been started during December 1977, with a sanctioned
strength of 50 inmates and is at present functioning at No. 39, 9th Cross,
Krishna Nagar, Puducherry-8.

person who is begging and without leprosy can be admitted in this Home.
The inmates are taught mat weaving by an instructor and are paid Rs.
3/- as labour charge. Apart from this every inmate is paid Rs. 2/- as
pocket money at the end of each month. The inmates are prohibited from
using alcohol, or any intoxicants inside the Home. They are provided
with food, clothing and shelter. During illness they are referred to
the P.H.C. or to the G.H. On completion of 3 years, an inmate will be
discharged by the Welfare Officer. The money earned as labour charges
for mat weaving will be on his name in post office saving account. This
will be handed over to him while he is discharged. Every year annual
tour is conducted to the inmates for entertainment.
